The Onion: Wikipedia Celebrates 750 Years of American Independence

Yes, this is hilarious. But I think it parodies what people think is wrong with Wikipedia (and actually isn’t) more than what actually is wrong (or just odd) about Wikipedia.

Excerpt:

The special anniversary tribute refutes many myths about the period and American history. According to the entry, the American Revolution was in fact instigated by Chuck Norris, who incinerated the Stamp Act by looking at it, then roundhouse-kicked the entire British army into the Atlantic Ocean.

(IMO there’s a lot more right than wrong about Wikipedia. I reference it daily and consider the In the News section to be an excellent source for information about current events. I find that most people who mistrust Wikipedia mistrust its premise, and have more experience in hating the premise than in using the site.)
