monarchs are passing through

At this time of year, swarms of monarch butterflies pass thorugh WNC on their way south to Mexico. I’ve got two big butterfly bushes (tall flowering shrubs that have fragrant spikes of flowers that butterflies LOVE), and they’re covered with monarchs. About six to eight per bush. They just hang out in the bushes, drinking and fluttering gently. Step outside and you can see a monarch float by on the breeze every now and then.

They’re everywhere.
