Video Joy

Via David Byrne’s superb blog I learned about the Young@Heart chorus, a touring New England choral group whose members are currently all 70 years old or older:

With them, every lyric takes on new meaning: Sonic Youth’s “Schizophrenia” (of course), The Flaming Lips’ “All We Have Is Now,” Coldplay’s “Fix You” — well, you can imagine.

They ended with a version of “Forever Young” with their fists in the air. The hipsters at the Paris Bar were completely won over, I think.

Not even hipsters can resist them. Yes, they have a video, for their enchanting version of David Bowie’s “Golden Years”:

Via Neil Gaiman’s charming, chatty and always interesting blog, a quietly amazing Raymond Crowe video, a magical shadow show of “What a Wonderful World.”

I laughed with delight.
